MightyBids Up for Bidding on eBay

NEW YORK – Peter Michaud and Jeff Ramaglia loses their final straw on the charges for listing on eBay. In 2003 they created an alternative online auction site, MightyBids.com and are now selling it on eBay - the very reason why they’ve come up with a substitute. But they made sure not to do in their own Montreal-based MightyBids what they were tired about on eBay. Thus they charge only the items that sell.
Michaud used to sell 50-100 art items on eBay in a month and would acquire about $1,200 fees with hardly any items sold. When asked why he lists on the site that he is tired about, Michaud explains it as marketing, getting publicity and challenging eBay Inc. as well. His and Ramaglia’s MightyBids.com garnered 44 bids that raised the purchase price to $25,100 that is still less than the reserve price, which Michaud refuses to tell. The auction is to end on July 1.
In purchasing MightyBids that has more than 100,000 registered users in Canada, the U.S. and Europe, the owner will also get hold of the site’s code and a range of MightyBids-related domain sites.
Nichola Sharpe, eBay spokeswoman says that businesses are common items sold in their site. Chief executive of The Auction Guild watchdog group Rosalinda Baldwin adds that MightyBids in not the only auction site that has been created out of dissatisfaction from the credits for listings on eBay. Consequently there is an abundance of choices for those who wouldn’t want to sell on eBay such as the Gemm.com that specializes on music and uBid.com, which is more general in trade.
